Argentina did it: same-sex, same-marriage

September 28th 2010 07:13

Many governments across the world are debating the possibility of same-sex marriage legislation. Currently, there are only ten national governments that legally recognise the practice, Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain and Sweden. This means around 220 million people of the planet’s 6.8 billion are entitled to marry whom ever they love, just 3.2% of the world’s population

The Contrasting Worlds of Thailand

August 27th 2010 09:24
Most travellers to Thailand are never able to sum up the country in one word, sentence or idea, nor should they. In the North, villages dot the landscape living precariously between their traditional and modern existence. In the South, beaches such as Railay or islands like Koh Phangan attract a farang (foreign) crowd looking for sun, sand, aesthetic beauty and a debaucherous drinking session or two. Then there is Bangkok, catering to the hearts and minds of all who seek fulfillment. A city maintained by millions of rich, middle class and poor individuals of every taste, acting as a microcosm for the nation as a whole.

What? and How? in Myanmar

August 15th 2010 05:05

In my recent travels I made several unique discoveries in a less explored part of the world, Myanmar (also known as Burma). Our reasons for not crossing the borders of this country are numerous. However, the decrease in foreign visitors over recent years has made it more difficult for locals to create wealth outside government influence. Our main concern is usually the politics of travelling there, is it safe to travel through a country controlled by an oppressive military regime? How can one avoid financing such a government if we do decide to travel there? I admit that all these reservations played on my mind prior to my early morning flight from Bangkok to Yangon, capital to capital, representing two very different versions of Southeast Asia

Al-Qaida – Summer 2008

It appears that predator drone missiles are converting the upper level leadership of al-Qaida, the lions of the jihadist effort into expensive throw rugs; their hides should be showing up on the world market places in hopes of making a few extra million to hire replacements for fallen cannon fodder

Individuals infected by infatuation, or something like love, are often blinded by full on hedonistic desire and fail to recognize the nuances of deceit and treachery because, like Ostriches, their heads are buried in the sands of ignorance and self absorption; making them easy prey.

Slimy Schmucks Awards

July 28th 2008 20:36
Global Citizens Slimy Schmuck Awards go to the following recipients:

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are two politicians that I would like to have removed from office for gross stupidity and negligence. These two hinder and hamper bills that could help ease the financial and energy problems while blaming others for their actions. Story Link

Pimp Daddy, "Boom Boom" Barack Obama recently went on a tax payer funded sojourn to the Middle East and Europe, where he didn't visit combat troops or the injured soldiers hospitalized there. Choosing instead to pander to the European and dubious leaders in the Middle East. They aren't the people voting in the upcoming election, Americans will vote; the wounded soldiers and citizens of the USA are going to either reject or accept the man based on his convincing arguments and ability to lead not his ability to play nice with the world.

Why do I care that the French or the Germans love Obama? If they love him so much, elect him to be their President. All I am seeing is a caricature of a man acting like a black pimp, posturing to look good for the public and press. All sun glasses, feathers, boas, broad brimmed hat, fur coats, snake skin boots, and flash, completely devoid of substance. While his pimp daddy main bitch is talking smack trash and they (his entourage) all appear to hate whitey and the US as much as our enemies do

Goodbye Heath Ledger, again

July 20th 2008 02:48
This afternoon I went to see a long movie, “The Dark Knight,” Heath Ledger’s last character role was the starring villain known as the Joker. Heath's screen presence was powerful; his portrayal of the Joker character was amazing. Heath’s Joker was dark, funny, menacing and scary. Jack Nicholson’s portrayal of the Joker was always a caricature and funny. Jack is a preeminent actor, capable of manifesting the dark side of his characters and I am a huge fan, but I could nearly feel the presence of darkness in Heath’s portrayal of this Joker.

Sadly, there won’t be a sequel with Heath playing the Joker, but he absolutely redefined the role of the Joker forever and we are all the poorer for the loss of his great talent
