Iran ~ USA Talks

July 18th 2008 21:56
When making a point to an audience with a known 30 second attention span, the circuitous route fails. So, let's power speak.

Iran and the USA are to hold talks in Baghdad concerning Iraqi security issues and perhaps more. But don't anyone get their hopes set to high and forecast that the US will reopen an embassy in Tehran and peace, love and harmony will explode throughout the Middle East

Taking a Stand

July 15th 2008 22:51
British lawmakers voted Tuesday to include the military wing of Lebanese-based group Hezbollah to Britain's list of banned terrorist organizations, charging it supported terror activities in Iraq and the Palestinian territories.

The action by the House of Commons would make it a crime to join or support the military wing of the radical group, which fought a bloody month-long conflict with Israel two years ago

When Satire Isn’t Funny

July 15th 2008 18:56
Hahahahahaha . . . uh, hmmm, wait a minute this is racist, sexist and extremist???

A satirical image making a comment about some of the distorted attacks on the senator and his wife wasn’t found to be funny by the Obama’s. I post this offering to show that satire often isn’t what it’s touted to be and is in fact an indirect assault

Sometimes there aren't words enough to describe anything as abstract as an opinion, but this works for me. There is no ambiguity here. It may work for you as well.

OK Alaska ~ Secede now....

March 31st 2008 14:16
Alaska, break free now....please!!!
The Bush administration, positing another knee jerk reaction, is proposing the biggest overhaul of financial regulation since the Great Depression. This is flawed thinking and will ruffle feathers; guaranteed.

The bulky document, printed on recycled toilet paper and which was to be released Monday by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, proposes giving broad new powers to the Federal Reserve to combat the type of severe credit crisis currently gripping financial markets

...the Nuclear Option and McCain

March 2nd 2008 22:01
We have a presidential candidate, John McCain who is earnestly seeking the highest office in the land (the USA, its that little country south of Alaska and Canada) and he now has quite the following of hopeful supporters cheering him on towards the Whitehouse. He is a veteran, a former POW and an honorable man for the most part. I admire him as perhaps only a fellow service man is able; he survived harrowing conditions to become a US Senator with a long career, and that is truly inspiring. While listed as a Republican, his political leaning is towards the left of the more liberal Democrats, and that’s OK with me. Because he has consistently stood his ground when he’s made a decision about any matter, and appears to consider most things carefully before making up his mind. And many, many veterans willingly gave their lives in support of the office he's competing so hard to obtain.

So, what’s my major malfunction? His temper is a minor concern to me. I have PTSD and displays of uncontrollable temper is an occasional issue for me, and yes, I have had years of counseling and psychotherapy learning to deal with the matter. Evidently, so has he

Osama Bin Laden....so, what?

February 17th 2008 02:23
Listening to a recent talk show on the radio, I was struck by the angst and anger voiced by an individual that called in to critique a guest speakers position. A comment was made by the guest speaker suggesting that the USA should not have allowed OBL to escape killing or capture in Afghanistan. The critique was proffered by a member of an intelligence gathering organization with probably no more than three initials in its name. Who politely, but without vagary, suggested that the guest didn’t know what he was talking about where it involved the Intelligence Community.

So, take this comment with a grain of salt or sand: I am aware of a young man, serving in Afghanistan as a sniper, whose team had worked itself into a position to take out Osama. When he called in to for permission to fire, he was denied permission and was ordered to stand down, but maintain surveillance and continue to gather information. This incident occurred in the last several months near the border of Pakistan
