When Satire Isn’t Funny

July 15th 2008 18:56
Hahahahahaha . . . uh, hmmm, wait a minute this is racist, sexist and extremist???

A satirical image making a comment about some of the distorted attacks on the senator and his wife wasn’t found to be funny by the Obama’s. I post this offering to show that satire often isn’t what it’s touted to be and is in fact an indirect assault.

This is an affront, it is tasteless and very offensive. The New Yorker Magazine really shines with this effort; the upside, sales increased.

It's particularly UN- Funny when I do it. Then it's mean, nasty, cruel, sarcastic, well amongst too many of these bloggin' bloggers, but I enjoy my off beat humour immensely, and they don't have the wits, (brains) to get it, especially without the obligatory ha ha ha ha ,<smiles> but who cares, they'll be here to-day, gone to-morrow, like most of us.

Lookin' all too serious, Raven. ALL politicians are the butts of tasteless humour, look at poor Bush, and I used to admire Americans for getting behind their president with a united front.

But there are lots of experts here, I'm not sure any of them DO anything useful, but they are certainly quite vocal about what others DO.

Actions, always speak louder than words in my book.

I must be overly exposed to time to-day, the pennies will drop later when I wonder where the day has gone.

All the stereotypes and all the half-lies about the Obamas really got rolled into one horribly tasteless magazine cover, by the New Yorker, no less.

Had this been published in Canada, whoever signed off on that cover would've been hauled off to the Human Rights Commission -- and the results wouldn't be nearly as light on them as they are here. On the other hand, I'd rather let the buyers do the "censoring" through their buying power.

Anonymous, I would hope reasoning individuals would reject this particular issue on principle.

Sadly, it is not likely.

Thanks for your input.
