Iran ~ USA Talks
July 18th 2008 21:56
When making a point to an audience with a known 30 second attention span, the circuitous route fails. So, let's power speak.
Iran and the USA are to hold talks in Baghdad concerning Iraqi security issues and perhaps more. But don't anyone get their hopes set to high and forecast that the US will reopen an embassy in Tehran and peace, love and harmony will explode throughout the Middle East.
“Huh” you say, “ . . .why not?”
Simply put: You're degrading the radical preoccupation of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad et al, to usher in their version of the end times apocalypse and install their long awaited 13th Imam; in short, ignoring the lunatic factor of those who aren't concerned about the rest of their fellows, because only they know what’s best for humanity.
Our oft referenced President GWB, occasionally described by some as the What Me Worry president, is a man that has carried a huge load for many years and was touted to have the mental acumen of a rock, yet has out witted many of the nations sharpest minds at virtually every turn. That's indicative of a cunningly shrewd mind.
Do I believe that this meeting has been orchestrated by Bush; sure, it is a matter of practicality. Personally, I hope that the effort is successful. But in my heart of hearts, I believe that conflict will erupt in spite of talks. And if it does, Iran and the Middle East will wind up a glowing ember.
How can willing martyrs be threatened with death, they'll embrace it and take you with them. It equates to the same scenario as the forced shooting of a suicidal individual who's holding a gun to his own head; only in this case, it'll be suicide by nukes.
Pessimist that I am, I believe Iran will hedge, dodge, bargain and stall to gain time to develop their nuke program; it will continue and we need to deal with the problem now or later. Later, brings with it the holocaust, ready or not.
As negotiators, the mullahs have been talking each other into the grave for centuries.
Now our conference door has been opened. . . what now?
Whats your suggestion?

The bearded nut case in Iran is gaining capital from all the saber rattling.
Moderate voices are being drowned out because every rhetorical word is being beamed to the Iranians that the USA want it to be destroyed or to install another Shah.
History that stops at the embassy siege is only half the history. Yanks read their but Iranians read theirs.
