Goodbye Heath Ledger, again (LINK)
July 20th 2008 02:48
This afternoon I went to see a long movie, “The Dark Knight,” Heath Ledger’s last character role was the starring villain known as the Joker. Heath's screen presence was powerful; his portrayal of the Joker character was amazing. Heath’s Joker was dark, funny, menacing and scary. Jack Nicholson’s portrayal of the Joker was always a caricature and funny. Jack is a preeminent actor, capable of manifesting the dark side of his characters and I am a huge fan, but I could nearly feel the presence of darkness in Heath’s portrayal of this Joker.
Sadly, there won’t be a sequel with Heath playing the Joker, but he absolutely redefined the role of the Joker forever and we are all the poorer for the loss of his great talent.
Goodbye Heath . . . I'll visit you on screen again soon.

That set off huge alarm bells to me. I think playing the Joker put him in touch with the darkness inside himself, and he didnt look after himself as well as he should have. Its only my opinion, but I tend to have insight into these things.

Just too bad this is the first and last we'll see Joker as great as him. Sure will be a challenge to the next actor.
AMAZING acting. I still can't get over it. Raved about the movie on my blog soon as I got home! i couldn't let it pass!
I will definitely watch this at least one more time.

Heath - by all accounts was a fairly complex character - and in death (as was the case during his short tenure on this planet) his roles both on and off the screen will continue to be scrutinised.
Stay well

It is very sad that he's gone and I do love all his movies, each role he acted he put a 110% into and this time I may have to agree that darkness could overwhelmed him after playing such a role...
A must watch movie in my list now!

I never really appreciated the Batman-Joker dynamic before this. Heath Ledger's portrayal made me understand The Joker's darkness.
Superb acting. I was repelled by The Joker yet still so fascinated. Heath Ledger's The Joker was magnetic.
Amazing. Absolutely amazing. And it's not because of the hype of him passing away, but of the acting was just so damn good.
